IWD 2021

0

International Women’s Day (IWD), a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality for all genders. The first International Women’s Day occurred in 1911, supported by over one million people.

IWD 2021 campaign theme: #ChooseToChallenge

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can all choose to challenge and call out sexism, gender bias, and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

Take action

Women, Trans, Two-Spirit, Femme, and Non-Binary equality can’t wait. It’s going to take everyone to think and be gender inclusive – all the time, everywhere.

For International Women’s Day 2021 and beyond, how will you show support?

Post your #IWD2021 message on social media! Check out online events. Read books, blogs, and posts on gender inclusiveness, and anti-sexism. Support your local Women’s Resource Centres, who are often doing some of the hardest frontline work in pushing for equity, safety, and wellbeing for all. Most importantly, don’t just be a bystander when you hear sexist comments or jokes. Call them in. #ChoosetoChallenge
