Sometimes it’s hard to talk about mental illness. Mental illness affects people of all ages and from all walks of life. It can take many forms, including depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. Most people find ways to live and thrive with their illnesses but how they are treated by others often proves to be more of a challenge than the illness itself. That’s why we are joining the conversation around mental health on Bell Let’s Talk Day, January 30. It’s a day that focuses on having conversations that end mental illness stigma and connect people to support.
If you or someone you know is living with a mental illness, or if your feeling stressed out, it’s important to talk with someone you trust about what is going on. This could a family member, teacher you trust, school counsellor or a phone line/chat service like The Kids Help Phone. If you live in Winnipeg you can also check out Klinic Drop-in counselling.
Spread the conversation on mental illeness and share resources with your friends, family and community. Use the hashtag #bellletstalk and join the conversation by using the poster below to share What Mental Health Means to You.
