Mental Health Week

0

Mental health is about more than mental illness. From May 7-13, 2018 the Canadian Mental Health Association is asking you to #GETLOUD about what mental health really is.

It’s more than being happy all the time. It’s about feeling good about who you are, having balance in your life, and managing life’s highs and lows. Everyone deserves to feel well, whatever their mental health experience. It doesn’t mean we feel well all the time, but that when we have lows we know how to cope and work through it. This means doing things that help us feel good, reflect on what is going on sometimes, while other things help us have fun and take a break from life’s challenges. We all need a support system to lean on too. This could be friends, family, community or a counsellor.

Some helpful supports include

Kids Help Phone which offers online, txt and phone support.

Teen Clinics are drop-in health clinics for teens. They can connect you to counselling services and other programs.

Klinic Drop-in Counselling at 870 Portage Avenue (in Winnipeg). Free counselling services five days a week.

Check out our resources section to learn about even more supports in your area.
